True Crime All The Time
Hey guys! Ren here with another review for another amazing podcast! Can I say I am blown away by the talent I’m finding out here. I really am truly impressed with so many of the dedicated people behind these podcasts.
Today, I am reviewing as the title suggests “True Crime All The Time”, a true crime podcast hosted by Mike and Gibby. I should say that I’ve now listened to almost all of their podcasts and I do not know if I am the first to suggest this but: these two need a talk show! If you’ve read my reviews you know I am true crime loving girl and I do love their takes on some of the most gruesome crimes out there, however I also very much enjoy when they go off script with teasing one another or personal stories just as much. I find myself smiling at their stories. (This could also be because I’m a midwest girl currently reside in the southern USA and am homesick, but I think it is because these guys are fun).
I love that they do their research or Maggie does and guys? An interview with her would be nice (if you haven’t yet. I haven’t done your entire podcast library..yet). The research is thorough and you can tell that all parties are treating this as a professional gig or a hobby they are really dedicated to and I like that. Add to that Mike’s voice and the friendship between the two hosts and you are in for a good time while listening to them. I am among those who listen to this podcast before bed, so far no really weird dreams…or weirder than normal.
One of the things that pulled me in, personally, was the way the guys wonder allowed about why these people do what they do. As a psychologist I can often answer back, but I like to hear their thoughts which is usually “we don’t think like they do” which is a good thing! Their honest reactions are welcomed by this listener.
I always do a quick review of an episode or two. For the podcast I am choosing: John Norman Collins, aka “Ypsilanti Ripper”. As a Michigander by birth I knew a tiny bit about this murderer. He murdered around ten women. He was a predator of mostly young co-eds and he was a gruesome killer.
Listen to the podcast to find out more about this killer. I am reviewing the podcast and this episode is very thorough they talk about the killer’s family history, his education and familial interactions. Some of these stories of families interactions are horrific, but they in no way make what this killer does later okay. I like that the hosts agree with me on this point and don’t have any sympathy for the perpetrators of the crimes they cover.
All in all, I highly recommend this podcast. I am officially a fan of Mike and Gibby…now guys, go get a talk show.
